Exclamation RE: UMM HEADLAMPs

Hey P-man, i think someone has confused you. The all chrome grille has headlights built into it, they are the 3 lil slots on the sides of the grille. This is the original 69 Z28 grille. There is the other one that you can paint black and put the big round headlights that resembles the 67 and 68 model years. My advise on something cool do what i did, check the pic. This was easy, get flat black spray paint and spray the whole chrome 69 grille. After 2 coats let dry, and get a paper towel and some goo gone, it has that orange scent to it. Then put soem goo gone on the paper towel and pass it over the grille part, for mine it took off the black paint on the grille parts and let the inside where the air would pass through black, it looks really cool. BTW bright yellow with black stripes and different wheels would look sweet.

I think the 69 round head light looks better than retractable.

1967-68

1969

edit again, Warren i think the SS's came with the retractable and RS has the fixed head lamp??? I could be wrong? Yes no. Or did Rs have both, or was it an option on both models???

Thanks for the help here guys.
I'm not 100% sure on this so i'm only guessing, but i think that only the RS came with the 3 smaller lights on each side.
I just dont like the look of them IMO, i like the full round single ones each side.
It will keep the wheels it has got on already as i want to keep it fairly stock and IMO look great on the kit.

I'm not bein picky Warren, dont worry lol But the "three lights" are just covers to one big light under it. The threee spaces Are just screen. Looks good again, i'm doing the same kit right now, and like you said its alot of fun!

You guys call it retractable, is the light ever "retracted" where the round lights are "fully" shown?

Just to make this clear, the RS pakage was mainly just for looks. It came with chrome trim around the wheel wells, special hidden light grille, and I think it also included the chin lip, spoiler, hood, & different rear lights.

Sounds like alot of people are confused, very confused. The RS came with the option of the slat light grille. The SS only came with the slat grille to my knoledge but I haven't done much research on such a thing as lights . Anyway I think the 1st Generation Camaros look sweet as with either lights because of their clean and sexy lines. Keep this one coming Pman!

Post Head Lamps

Y'all are still wrong as ever. First off were not talking about the SS camaro, because the this is the RS/Z28 kit. And the full round headlights are from the 1967 and 1968 model years of the RS and the Z28. However, in 1969 the Z28 came with the 3 slotted headlamps, they didnt retract or flip up over the bug eye headlight because they were fixed into position and each slot had a light in it for the headlights. Bottom Line There Were No Reatractable Headlights. Take it from a bowtie guy who knows his stuff. Keep up good work P-man.

Ya But the RS came with the slotted head lamp, i thought it retracted, sorry, and the SS came with the the round headlight showing. And the base Camaro came with the headlights showing, but the grill was gray, with no emblem, not black with the chrome trim around it like the SS's had.

Thumbs up Head Lamps

Model kid thats exactly right what I previously stated before. I don't seem to recal the camaro having flip up headlights I know the firebirds did, but thats not the point. Hopefuly everyone understands this now.
