Congrats to all those with the houses... I too will be looking around for one as soon as I finish up with college (still have a few years left, yes) But I'm already saving for one.
For right now though, I still live with my parents... which is cool, cause college is less then 5 minutes from my house, and so is where I work... Only thing bad about living with the parents though is dating... Good thing my girl likes my parents and vice versa though

But isn't that retarded, that it's cheaper to buy and own a house these days then it is to rent an appartment?
But hey... living at home with the parents is FREE... leaving LOTS of money for cars and other fun stuff

I bought my 1st house at age 24 for 65 grand in NJ and sold it 3 years later for 140,000. Sweet inflation over the last few years....unfortunately it was caused by 9-11 when everyone wanted out of the city into NJ.

But buying a home is the best thing possible financially if you can swing it....saves you dough monthly and everything you put into it...you get back someday! Plus you have all kinds of equity which comes in handy....

Especially when you are at the honda dealer getting a loan

I'm only 20 so im not planning on buying a house anytime soon, but I did recently sign a lease for an apartment at school.......living off campus is saving me about $5000 a year in loans so maybe now I will only have to live with my parents for 2-3 years after I graduate instead of 5 or 6 while I'm paying off loans from school

- poor eric...mine is new construction so i am kinda in the middle.

Rates are pretty low right now Jason, so it won't get much better than it is now. I have some debt too, so I took out a loan on my 401k for downpayment and debt consolidation. With the way the market's been lately I am better off loaning the money to myself, than losing it in the stock market ...good luck!! yo

BTW - I just turned 32 and this is my 2nd house. I bought my 1st house at 22, but I gave it to the ex-wife...

And for those of you in college...stick it out! Being old and paying for this kind of shit without a degree is tough - now I have to go back and finish so I can make more money to support my habits
