I don't know how you can pick a favorite. I'd take/drive anyone one of them!

agree with ya on that one, and the other thing is which generation do you choose......now the Evos, 206s, wrxs are good then again the audi's, 205's, lancia, were excellent in thier time, then if you go further back escorts, datsun 240s, 710s etc......list could be endless....

they are all good to me

1. Lancia Delta Integrale EVO
2. Lancia Stratos
3. Lancia Delta S4
4. Audi Quattro

I HATE the 206, it looks wrong. The best looking car now is the Citroen Xsara

cheers,
jay

My favourite has gotta be the Peugeot 206. They are damn nice.. only problem is the road versions look dog-ugly without the huge 2piece spoiler!!

Cossie sounds like a tractor in road form. Lancia Integrale EVO has it whipped in every way shape or form

You said it perfectly!

But for mine, I prefer the 2wd era. If I want to hear a backfiring 4-banger I'll hop on a propane-powered forklift thanks! But those 1960's Monte Carlo Falcon Sprint V8's must have looked/sounded fabulous. Local GT-HO Falcons were awesome, if unsuccessful, memorably posting a 129mph AVERAGE SPEED during one stage of New Zealand's Heatway Rally of .. 1971, was it?

Remember how the unlikely Mercedes Benz 450 SLC crushed all opposition in the tough East African Safari? Or when UK hero Roger Clark rolled his Lotus Cortina during the Greek 'Acropolis' Rally, which prompted the headline:
"Clark comes Acropolis!"

Personally, I loved watching the 1970-74 Holden Torana GTR XU-1 (basically a manic 6cyl Vauxhall Viva) which then dominated rallys here. But to my mind the prettiest to watch/hear were factory BDA Escorts, lifting wheels everywhere, gee those engines sounded sweet to my ear.

The old Audi Quattro's. I knopw they werent the best, but the noise they made!!! I saw them all once in the RAC rally of britain, but unfortunately was too young to remember. i have videos of them all though. I really wish the Porshce 959 had made it in time before they shut down group B. I also saw a Ferrari that was kinda planned for rally. i cat remember the name, but it was a done up version of one of the old road cars. Anyway, my order of rally cars:

1) Audi Sport Quattro S2
2) Peugeot 205 T16
3) Lancia Stratos
4) Lancia Delta Integrale

do you think the old Group B cars or the newest WRX's and 206's etc. would be faster round a rally course. The older Group B's have it easily on the straight, but there have been alot of handling improvements since those days.

I'd say the newer ones would be faster, but not by much. As well as handling improvements, the new cars are much easier to drive, crammed full of electronics and other gizmos etc...
