OK, after a long journey this thing is finally complete. Since i last reported this car has been renamed to "Project Disaster". The story goes like this... The Testors Classic Black spray that i was using aparently is a bad can or is just really bad paint. I painted the car and it had lots of bubbles and orange peel. So i stripped it but the stuff i was stripping it with ate some of the plastic, no biggie. But when i painted it again the same thing happened. Stripped once again but with much less satisfactory results.
Here is what followed:After Stripping Some of the primer paint combination would just not come off so i had to press on. After priming again and an application of TS-14 (tamiya paint rules, im never going back) the thing looked half way presentable .Now on to the decals which go on beautifully. Then to a clearcoat... Now I know you are suposed to put on some mist coats and I did but aparently it was not enough. 3 decals ran a bit. The warsteinger logos on the hood ran a bit where the hood is a valley. One of the side DTM boxes ran a bit. The rear warstiner logo has lost half of its 'E'. Besides from those big problems and the fact that the car is now about 50% putty it was a good build . Pics follow and commetns are appreciated.thanks Matt

Excellent stuff Matt.
Looks great considering all the trials and tribulations it put you through! Good to see you didn't give up when things went wrong (as they inevitably do from time to time) and pushed on to completion. The lessons learnt will only help you in the future. |

Great job! Nicely done! Did you leave the gull parts at the rear on purpose?

I might be mistaken but I think mech0t0 is talking about the louved grill sections that fit on the rear wheel arches. They've been left off in the rear photograph. I think I've seen photos of DTM Mercs running without those, maybe the Warsteiner car was like that?.

Ahh, no those parts were actually damaged beyond repair in the seccond stripping. But now that you mention it, Of course they were left off, the warsteiner car always ran withouy them

Very nice job. Shame that half of it is putty. However, when I was reading about it on previous pages lots of people said ,''Mercs''. This confused me at first because i refer Mercury's to Mercs. But then i put 2 and 2 together and got 4 and an A on the quiz. Oh, wait different story. Is there a reason that some Mercedes owners don't like calling their cars a Benz? Just wondering.
