so DOHC is for 4 bangers and SOHC is for V-6's ???

If you want to be picky, VTEC is Variable Valve Timing and Electronic Lift Control.

In this case, I believe it is due to the fact that it is an "In-line 6 cyl."

The V-6 in our Odyssey is a SOHC and it is also a 6 cyl.

The 4 cyl. that was in my Civic was a SOHC and had been that way until 1999 when they introduced the Civic Si which became the first DOHC in a Civic (US).

I don't know they logic, maybe it is decided on the day of the week the car goes into production...

ok, the SOHC and DOHC doesnt have any significance with number of cylinders. OHC is overhead cam and mans the cam is in the head above the valves and sits right on the rockers, replacing the old cam above crank, pushing lifters, pushing pushrods, pusing rocker, pushing valves. the D or S is just single or dual(double, ive heard it both ways)

an inline 6 can have dual cams, so can any engine if you want it to.

CD Accord engine: LX, DX, SE = F22B2 (sohc non vtec)
EX = F22B1 (sohc vtec)

Euro-R = H22A (similar to preludes)
