Re: Prison Break. You can do it in an MG! :)
Working on the interior before I start painting the body.
I have been trying to adopt a painting technique used by armor and aircraft modelers on the interiors of my builds to try and avoid the “flat” look of seats and door cards painted in one block colour. I started with a very crude pre-shading of joints and areas that would be in shadow using black or black/grey ![]() The pre-shading was then covered with my base colour – in this case Vallejo Fire Red. Once this has been used to cover the whole piece, the pre-shading is now a subtle “darkeness” in the places where it was applied. I then added a couple of drops of a lighter red to the base color and lightly sprayed this lighter tone on the higher parts of the seats and in the middle area of the door cards. This is followed by 1-2 drops of an even lighter colour and a very light narrow highlighting was added. Finally I added 2 drops of dark grey to what was left in the airbrush cup and lightly sprayed this around the edges and in the deep creases of the seats. ![]() Unfortunately, I cannot get a photo that does the final effect justice ☺ ![]() With the interior painted, I made some carpeting based on the technique from my tutorial of many, many, many years ago. ![]() ![]() The greatest solution ever to excessive carrier film on dashboard gauge decals – a punch and die set ☺ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I have also shaved of the molded-in door handles and replaced them with some wire and masking tape facsimiles. ![]() Finished tub assembly ![]() ![]() I’m rusty at the s**t but I’m enjoying it more and more ![]() cheers!

Tonight I have done the glassware.
BMF on the windscreen frame. I also have made up a couple of side windows from clear acetate that may or may not be installed in a rolled down position in the final assembly. ![]()

Re: Prison Break. You can do it in an MG! :)
Don't worry, your mojo will come back! But be careful, you gotta take it easy at first. Not too fast, and careful not to hurt yourself.
But it is fun, isn't it? ![]() I don't think you've lost much. Preshading seats, huh? Funny, I was doing much the same myself with an interior yesterday. Maybe I should post some pics....

Re: Prison Break. You can do it in an MG! :)
Got some paint on the body tonight. Will check tomorrow in daylight to see if it needs one more coat or not.
Decanted Tamiya Camel Yellow and my trusty dehydrator. ![]() ![]() Cheers!

Re: Prison Break. You can do it in an MG! :)
My gawd- I could never keep up with your pace! I'd have to get up every day at 3am!
I painted two seats today (this week), and counted myself productive. I would say that maybe this is what five years of pent up not building does for you- but it hasn't worked for me.

Re: Prison Break. You can do it in an MG! :)
It turns out that a gal can have too long legs!
My Fujimi lady won’t fit in the MG ![]() ![]() Nothing for it. Plastic surgery was called for! ![]() Could this be the ultimate solution for back seat drivers?? ![]() ![]() Legs were drilled and pinned with an annealed paper clip. ![]() ![]() Now she fits… ![]() Magic Sculp to re-form the joints ![]() Sanded and primed ![]() She’ll be something like this ![]() I thought that the prisoner would require the most work but I was totally wrong. It is his girlfriend that is needing all the work to get close to the pose in the photo Cheers! Quote:
![]() Good morning BTW

Re: Prison Break. You can do it in an MG! :)
Today I found some time to glue and putty the torso and arms into place. I tried to add some creases into the new joints with a toothpick
![]() So this is more or less how she’ll be sitting in the B ![]() ![]() cheers!

Skillfully done. I still think she has nice looking knees. But really- you chose not to hike that skirt up higher instead?
![]() Now there's a nice box of smokes.

![]() First attempt at making the bedsheet rope from Kleenex soaked in PVA white glue and water over a wire armature. Not bad but I am not fully happy with it so will be trying some other ways. ![]() ![]() Cheers! ..
