If u have a boost controler can u turn ur turbo off?

A boost controller doesnt turn the turbo on and off, it just regulates it so that it produces the amount of boost (x psi) that you want.
P.S. Spectrum I built my fuel system to be able to run as much boost as I wanted on pump gas. In my car, adding race gas wouldn't allow me to run up the boost, I run 26psi on my 50 Trim on the street. Race gas really won't help until I start running a high compression motor and I need the extra detonation resistence offered by a higher octane fuel.

No, the lowest boost setting you can have is the psi that opens the actuator itself. On a DSM this is around 11-12psi. If you get an external wastegate or a different adjustable actuator you have different spring options that would allow you to set boost as low as 5-6 psi. But again, with a DSM boost is meant to go UP not down.
Peace

Mine is set at 25-26psi, but that's because I have the supporting mods to do that. For a more stock car 14-16 is good. Once you begin to upgrade you'll get a better feel for what you can run on your own car.
Peace

Your best bet is to maximize the stock turbo first, and upgrade it when it eats shit from being over spun. Most people already listed the mods, but its all about air in, air out, fuel to match, and appropriate tuning devices. I use DSMlink myself. People run 11s all day on stock 7 bolt internals, but know that you are pshing it and one mishap in your tuning and things can get ugly. But its been done for years.
to aves911, your mod list sounds good. 11s on pmp would be a no brainer for AWD, and I'm sure you can do it as well. Another reason to run race gas though is to raise timing. How much advance do you get on pump? out of curiousity...

Well,
Currently I get 19-20 up top, but I just realized that I have some pretty significant boost leaks. So I'm hoping that once I get those fixed, I should be able to get 22-23 degrees at redline. I was seeing 26+ on my old big16G. But obviously with the 50 Trim its a little harder to battle detonation

22-23 sounds good. 26 is a bit excessive for a 50 trim, but makes for a fun ride with a smaller turbo
Good luck with it

u guys put alot of psi in ur DSMs. for DSM stock cars, how psi do u think it'll need to make hit like mid 13s, high 12s, witout mods, jus a boost-controller?? my cuzin has a 92 Talon Tsi AWD, he has i think 11 or 13 psi on it.

You can't hit high 12's with just a boost controller and unless you are the best driver in the world, I doubt mid 13's are possible either. At a bare minimun you'll need a fuel pump and race gas crank the boost up to 19-20 psi on your 14b and drive like a professional and you could hit mid 13's high 12's.

What I like to use as a yardstick for how much you need at the bare minimum, are a couple local 1g cars. Exhaust, filter, boost controller, and hacked mas has run high 12s. Fuel control will almost make it a no brainer, but I've seen it done without. And yes, you will have to drive flawlessly...
But its possible. Most poeple will run 22-24 psi on the stock 1g turbo with race gas (112 or higher). Leon Reitman just did 11.84 on a 14b, and Phil Beers ran 12.0. A bit OT, but just to illustrate the potential.

There is definetly alot off potential in the 14B, just because it came stock doesn't mean it sucks.
I know the guy who held the world record for the T25 at 13.411, now hes .007 off the W/R. I see 20G's and even super 20G's running slower
