Yes. An xacto blade heated with a candle. You have to put light pressure and let the heat melt the rubber a bit.

Thanks for the tip Vric. Have to say with you not building for such a long time your skills are just as good if not better! The carbon fiber looks great. Keep us posted.

Re: Fujimi McLaren MP4-12C GT3 Gulf

Thanks for your comments!

I did the paint job over the last week and decals job over the weekend.

It’s not the exact same color as the Gulf, but it’s a close “pearl” version of it that I ordered in error. Light coat of clear is added to protect the fragile Zero Paint. The decals are great quality, thick, strong but react nicely to heat and MicroSol. Details is great too. Overall a nice sheet from Studio27.

It's the one that come from the Porsche GTR Flying Lizard Set.

I ordered the 2011 set while I needed the 2007 version.. So I used that orange. It's very close, but has a pearl effect in it.

Re: Fujimi McLaren MP4-12C GT3 Gulf

You know when you just had to not do modeling for a day and wish an undo button exist?

After final clear coat and polishing with micro-mesh, I went with the masking for the black part. Sadly, the tape was too strong and removed few of the decals that wasn’t perfectly settled to the body despite the clear coat.

The result is a “not very smooth” rear hood and a Gulf decal on the side door that is beyond repair. For the hood, I did paint it with Vallejo Sky Blue, which is nearly a perfect match for this Gulf Color, and I will clear coat it again once dry to minimize any texture the old decal left. As for the Gulf decal, I will have to order some new one.

Anyway, here's the result once I fixed what I was able to.

I absolutely know that feeling Vric

I think the new decals and clear coat will make the glitch barely visible. The model looks great!

Re: Fujimi McLaren MP4-12C GT3 Gulf

Sorry to hear about your troubles, the model is looking great so far. I have this in my stash to build next and will be using the same PE and Decals.
