Re: Ferrari 458 Italia

Nice build. As mentioned a finer polishing compound specifically developed for scale models would be better. As for the side mirrors, it appears that you just haven't pushed them into their holes enough. Looking forward to seeing your future builds!

Re: Ferrari 458 Italia

Nice looking Italia in a very suitable color - good job. Like others said, perhaps automotive compound is not fine enough for modeling use. Try Tamiya compounds and wax. They're easy to use and give great results.

Hi KevHw, thanks for your comment.
Now I understand the question about side mirrors, but I double check that in the model and thats the correct way to insert them in the model. The side mirror comes with a mark and is not posible to pushed them more unless you do a bigger hole.
Regards my friend.

Hi Emil, thanks for your nice comment and tip.
Because I'm using automotive paint I need to use automotive compound. I used Tamiya compound in the past, but looks like is too week (I don't know if this is the correct word, sorry) and you need to work more and harder with almost the same result.
But with all the tips you guys gave me, I will improve a lot my next black model, I'll promise to show you all the result.
regards
Miguel

Re: Ferrari 458 Italia

Hi Miguel! Great job on this one!
I´ve noticed something very similar to what happens to me on almost every model. Picture from top of model, on the rear hood, near the rear edge, there´s a bit of orange peel, sanded down, but not completely. I noticed this because it happens to me every time. I tried sanding down, but those areas usually end up stripped. I thought that automotive clear would dry smoother than the one I use from a can.
Did it go smooth and regular at first but then dried with the orange peel look? Or was it orange peely right after applied?
I´m trying to guess why it always happens to me...
