Re: WIP: Peugeot 206 S1600 MM24 - Deutschland Rallye
Hi Borjacho,
thanks for your comments and addition to this build. All together we may provide all necessary informations to all other builders ! ![]() Doing a clear WIP which may be usefull is all I can hope from it ! ![]() As you can see in the following 2001 car pic (yellow circle) it seems to be a bottom bar too in the S1600 too, which in my opinion is the minimum for good safety as there isn't any central cross as in WRC. I can't swear it has the same reversed "V" design, it may be straight, but I assume there is one, and as I can't find more pics... I'll do with the original tamiya part. anyway a straight one would cross the central tunnel and bring other troubles. ![]() This picture seems to show too that you're right about roof part of the rollcage, only one diagonal bar is used in S1600. I haven't deal with that part yet and will modify it. I rounded the front cross bars besides seats this evening, but haven't done much more work... I spent some time trying to find some more under chassis and mechanical parts references but could get anything more except one pic. I will post more of my references all along the build. Thanks again for watching and commenting. Last edited by rallymaster; 09-01-2011 at 10:42 AM. |

Re: WIP: Peugeot 206 S1600 MM24 - Deutschland Rallye
Hello,
update ! yesterday work session was about repairing all I broke during rollcage modifications, as a few bars didn't survice to cutting. Then I had to rebuild a stud for right door inside panel assembly. I used the part that has to be cut off the original Tamiya chassis front part, drilling a small hole to fit it in. ![]() and it works !! ![]() also still working on body improvement. as you can see on teh next pic, the front face opening isn't perfectly symetrical... ![]() ...so I decided to correct it. ![]() I'm going on this evening on this modification, will show later tonight or this weekend the progress. I'm also finishing the rollcage with last bars and sanding. At last... Thanks for reading and following this WIP, any comment is welcome !

Re: WIP: Peugeot 206 S1600 MM24 - Deutschland Rallye
Update !
I made a template from the supplied PE grille to verify if I was doing right with the front opening. It seems to match well. ![]() I finally finished the rollcage, everything isn't perfect and inevitably as I intended it to be first, but it's done and spare wheels fits ! ![]() ![]() After that I at last moved to more serious body work. I started with the rear. The main problem is that the rear bumper is too flat, especilly corners aren't round enough, even modifications won't solve all of the problem, only a fully rebuild part could give more roundness to the part and give a righter base to work on. ![]() First step is to enlarge the sides bottom or rear bumper. Plastic card and a lot of putty and sanding... ![]() I added a plastic card stripe on the inside to reinforce bumper bottom as I'll sand most of its thickness to round it. ![]() This is where I stopped yesterday, since that I finished up to 95% the rear as I worked all the evening today. Will post pics soon. thanks for following, if there's still someone following it !

Re: WIP: Peugeot 206 S1600 MM24 - Deutschland Rallye
Update !
After work on the rear bumper I move to the front one. ![]() ![]() Adding a small lip a bit more thick ![]() Putty work (heavy one) have started since the pics. Result and truth time tomorrow after sanding but I hope to have kept (or restore) all symetrical... Another key moment of all my builds is the step preparing the "boxed displayed" state. those having already seen one of my builds are familiar to my process. First, locking model in the center of the display base. ![]() ![]() then drilling holes under the seats, adding nuts and screws to fix the model ![]() then magic operates once seats at their place ![]() That's all for today ! What do you think guys of the work so far ? especially about body work, as I'm wondering if I didn't go too far and modified too much thicknesses... or angles or... ?! I always doubt of my result and am not sure of the decisions taken and the work done, can't satisfy of anything... Any outside of the build opinion may help me keeping the right way. It's not so easy to know by oneself... Pics of the finished sanded body may help to get a better sight on the final body state.

Re: WIP: Peugeot 206 S1600 MM24 - Deutschland Rallye
Very impressive work. Nothing more to say
![]() Hey, for other modifications, have you seen this web page?: http://www.gascompetition.fr/catalogue.html Catalog is very interesting, as other colour pictures in the part of "Pieces Detachees" . Maybe will help with rear suspension, fuel tank, brakes.... In fact, I'm using them... |

Re: WIP: Peugeot 206 S1600 MM24 - Deutschland Rallye
Thanks Luis !
![]() this evening I decided after a long hesitation to modify all the rear under chassis parts and rebuild the suspensions arms, dampers etc as I wanted to add the fuel cell. Maybe too much for something invisible once model built but pleasure is in building, isn't it ?! ![]() so next update may take longer as I have a lot of measurements, tests etc to do to get the right parts. May finish work on body in the same time. All sandings are almost done... But I decided to redo the hood vent edge, too small and not round enough when looking again to pics, hopping I'm not going too far and wrong... |

![]() I have 19 different 206 WRC to build in my 1/24 collection... Only 2/3 are already built... And were when I hadn't skills and tools I now have... The tam kit is a great model, even with some little things to modify for better accuracy (you did it for bumper) especially wrond rear wing for Evo3. I also follow your WIP.

Re: WIP: Peugeot 206 S1600 MM24 - Deutschland Rallye
Another update,
Body work goes on with side view mirror surface cleaning. I will add chrome decal above. ![]() ![]() Here is where I am now after sanding time over body modification... hood vent ![]() front face ![]() and rear bumper ![]() Last step is to smooth every surface with 2000 grit sand paper but I'm think I'm done with putty body modifications. What do you think about it...? I also couldn't resist trying while waiting for the new part made by MM24 to modify by my own the rear wing to get a more conform one. ![]() ![]() Will use the new part MM24 should send me because my modified rear wing will be too weak compared to a one piece casted part. I've started under chassis work, but still nothing significant to show. thanks for watching Last edited by rallymaster; 09-07-2011 at 01:23 PM. |
