Re: Lancia Lc2 1985

first of all I closed all holes in the bodyshell. plasticard 1 mm and cyano glue as putty

then i add the side vent holes for cockpit.Plastic is quite thick,so u have to work vary carefully with a sharp blade to make it thinner near the holes

bodyshell now is ready for primer. I masked all the clear parts with tamiya tape

Re: Lancia Lc2 1985

Awesome work on the cockpit, I am guessing you are going to use the pit crew for a diorama with this one?

Re: Lancia Lc2 1985

the idea for a nice pit crew diorama is running in my mind since many years.
I dunno if I will use this Lancia for such diorama.Surely the LMM figures guys linked me in the other thread are a little too much modern for 80's (look at pictures, they were much more similar to nascar crew, also fuel guy was very similar). All the staff shall look a little bit "cheaper" than today standard, there were videos where people at work was in tennis shoes and jeans.

Just I know I love the pictures where hundreds of people are jumping on the car to make the pit, as in formula 1 .
A nice diorama can be a very cool for such models.I am planning to make something similar same for my Lancia S4 in progress and already weathered.Have just to plan carefully the scene. We wil see...for now I go on building this italian fast lady.

Re: Lancia Lc2 1985

Very impressive start.

You're clearly not afraid of a challenge.
I'll be following this one closely as I too love the old Group C cars (although I don't build them myself...)

Re: Lancia Lc2 1985

here again guys.
Xmas time and so grey winter days really kill me,I miss really too much my sun, the beach,my ship....the summer (time to move to Australia maybe?)
So is time to go on with this Lancia Lc2 !
I closed the bodyshell and started to paint the car. I did this cause the too light bodyshell from tamiya is too flexible and will be surely a mess to manage it with decals applied over. Prefer all closed and fixed.
The paints used are H311 off white from Gunze sangyio (will give a lighter color base, better than grey primes I used here) and then Flat white, even from Gunze.
the apply of this white is anyway not 100% flat, but semigloss, and will be perfect as basecoat fot the Martini livery
Hope u like it

Re: Lancia Lc2 1985

front lights in position. There is a big mess around the shape and size of these lights: in many pictures they are round, in many others are squared, some others again have double ones each side.
I made this version, single round one:

the light side was fixed with white glue.

Re: Lancia Lc2 1985

After new-year eve the swedish-italian chef here present is nearly gone.
We use to eat really too much down here. Do u know what is "Cotechino and lenticchie"? u will love it, believe me.

Happy 2011 to all guys.

Now is time to test the wheels to be used. I have both Tamiya and Hasegawa front ones. I will use the Tamiya ones, cause surely referred to an earlier car, with a larger wheel, Hasegawa has the ultra low profile tires used in the early 90s while my Lancia Evo is from 1985

front wheels by Hasegawa:

Re: Lancia Lc2 1985

And time is up now to starting with the mighty Martini-Racing livery.
Tamiya decals are quite old and I hope they will not reserve some surprises for me during the applying

the windshield black border is quite hard to place in position. The car here is still semi gloss and decals are crispy cause Gunze softer, a real needing during this work

I still dunno if I will apply the race number:this because I keep in touch with the pilots of the real thing (Nannini and Gabbiani) and would like to meet theme in person to see some real pics, if they have decent ones to share.
The idea should be anyway to make car no.4 Driven by Alessandro Nannini in 1985, but I will take my time until scratchbuild martini logos will arrive me.
tamiya made a mistake in their old slot body, the Martini gold in the logo is totally missing (dunno neither at the time it they had the technology to print it on decal film), so will apply the last decals over finished glossy models. Think I will not have so many problems, cause decals done in alps are usually too thin

Re: Lancia Lc2 1985

Curious to see if my masking tape is doing correctly its dirty job, I worked on the door, keeping it glossy with glossy varnish and tamiya polish
