Re: Murcielago 40th Anniversary

Da Ashman: I am building a 40th as well, mines almost complete. Just a heads up on the kit, the side view mirror mounting plates are a little too thick, you will want to file them down a bit to look more realistic. Looks Great by the way!!!!!! Love 40th's

Thanks, Ive already removed the mounting plates from the body & the mirrors now sit flush with the A pillar. I really wanted it to look right, the mirrors are definelty very important to how the finished model will look.

Havent made any progress lately, got a new computer & have been busy playing with Photoshop

Re: Murcielago 40th Anniversary

Ok, small update.
Finally got some clear on her, 2nd time I've used a 2K clear & i'm already hooked. It does need a light sand & another coat, theres a few tiny imperfections to get ride of.
The clear has really brought the colour to life, its a beautiful colour in the flesh but is increbilely hard to photograph correctly. & the wheels arrived!!!
Let me know what you think

The Wheels

Wheels are stagered with different & seperate chrome lips

The 2 of them combined together in a beautiful unison

Dads record player cover is a bit dusty

Close up of colour

I'm off on holiday in a few days so progress will be abit slow, I plan to hit it hard when i get back in a few weeks.

Thanks for looking
Ash

More thinner should solve your clear problem. The color is very nice!

Re: Murcielago 40th Anniversary

Hi Guys
Finally some progress!!! Ive been working on the wheel hubs, fitting the new larger wheels, correcting the ride height & extending the track so the wheels are at the edge of the body ( a common problem with Fujimis Murcielago).
Its a bit crude, ive simply offset the spacer with the revised brake hubs, but seeing at its only a basic curbside I'm happy with that!

I know the 40th had special silver brakes but the body coloured brakes really look great behind the black wheels!!
Still abit of sanding & shaping to do, but things are moving ahead, albeit slowly...

Re: Murcielago 40th Anniversary

Ok, Finally got some better pics & some work done.

Has not been polished yet, I re clearcoated & thinned the mixture down more this time, result is fantastic!!!

Still not super happy with the ride height, I may lower the front slightly for a more aggressive look

Thats all for now, working on repainting the interior & building the engine valve covers.
Thanks for looking
