Re: Chelsea pensioners LeMans show

There was only #06R there today

but there were a few people that are linked to the F1 there -

Ray Bellm

James Weaver

Derek Bell

and of course LARK60 and Le Man

Re: Chelsea pensioners LeMans show

Great to meet up with Greg and Lark60 (plus his family today) .

The Autolegends show was a very well turned out event, with a very nice garden party atmosphere, lots of superb race and sports cars on show. All credit to the organisers, for putting in a lot of effort into this inaurgural event and long may it continue . It was also a very pleasant experience to meet and talk to a few of the chelsea pensioners today, very nice people indeed.

As Greg has stated, only #06R was on show and as allways was well turned out and looking very nice lined up with the other LeMans race cars. We both had a brief meeting with Ray Bellm, who explained to us that it would have been #12R that would have been on display if the logistics had worked out and not #02R as listed in the line up. Shame, but one day hopefully, it will come out for display, in the livery we all wish to see it in .

I also had the great pleasure of meeting by chance, another F1 owner today, when I was studying one of his other cars from his collection. He was a very polite and nice gentleman to meet, I do not wish to name him, but there maybe a chance for me to view his F1 sometime in the future, so fingers crossed

Re: Chelsea pensioners LeMans show

Did anyone think to ask Ray about his previous contribution here since there was some skepticism?

Re: Chelsea pensioners LeMans show

Bit of a shame it was only #06R but predictable it was never gonna be #02R even if a Gulf car had turned up.

Some day...

Re: Chelsea pensioners LeMans show

Great - hopefully that satisfies everyone who still held any concern on that.

It would be wonderful to have him share some stories from the heyday of the F1 GTR. I'd also love to see some original photos of #046 since I don't believe we have any for reference.

Re: Chelsea pensioners LeMans show

I was quite disappointed to see only 06R but same other cars made it up for me, especially Ferrari 550 Barchetta GTZ and Pagani Zonda C12S Roadster

Yes, it was brought up in conversation and I pleaded with him for his return to the forum, as his contributions would be greatly appreciated. Ray very kindly gave me his contact details, so I can guide him through logging back in, etc. After listening with great interest to his answers to Simon Taylors questions, while on the Paddock stage yesterday, it would be very interesting for all of us on here, to converse with him about his F1 road and race exploits and championship winning success.

On behalf of everybody here on the forum, we all look forward to Ray,s return with great anticipation .

Everything is in hand my friend .

Thanks Phil, yes it was a great pleasure to meet Ray, a really nice gentleman, one of those early people who made the F1 GTR possible

I think Greg has captured Ray,s personality very well in his pic, not sure what to make of, when Ray punched me on the shoulder though . All light hearted, I wish to add.
