Steve,

It's not the wheels so much (although for the tarmac rally of Germany the 5-spoke onese were not used on the nr 6 car), it's the totally different hood, anir scoop on the roof, rollcage and dashboard that are different on the 2001 Focus compared to the 2002 one, and these changes are not reflected in the Tamiya kit. It's correct for the Duval nr 23 car though. But it's all ok as long as you like it.

I know the wheels are wrong but what the hell..

Thanks for the Pic Brian
As for the Tour de Corse Version thay used it for Duval which is correct but they made the change after the tour de corse as for Martin/Sainz/Mcrae the used the 2002 Version since the Montecarlo 2002 to Turkey 2003. In New Zeland they used the 2003 Version for Martin/Duval and 2002 Version For Hirvonen.

Cheers

It looks good, clean build. Build out of the box right?
Now for the other part. For us rally freaks it's completely wrong but I guess you figured that out already (read ales' posts).
It's a shame Tamiya comes up with what is just another 2001 version (how much money did they make with that mould?!), but with other decals.

But, when I take a look at it, just the way it has been build, very nice.

Stunning model of a stunning looking machine Hiroboy.

As many have pointed out Tamiya have pulled a swifty with this kit. The model and decals are correct for Duval's Tour de Corse car but not for Markko Martin's Deutschland car. So anybody planning to have a go at this kit in future be careful not to fall into the trap Tamiya have set!

I just ordered the new trans kit from Rennasaince from Media Mix. It has the correct hood, roof GPS box thing, the correct, bigger roof scoop and the 2003 RS decals. I'm glad I spotted and ordered it when I did, because they only had three and were sold out by that night. Combine that with the correct 15 spoke wheels and you can build an accurate car.

Now all I need is another Focus kit to put it on. That and a resin casting kit to copy the roof scoop since Rennasaince doesn't offer it seperately yet like they do with the hood and GPS box thing. Man, I am going to be busy.

RallyRaider,

I hate to go OT with this one but is Possum Bourne still alive? I know he was in a coma after his tragic accident in a street car, testing the hillclimb course and colliding with a fellow rally driver. I thought I read the report where they listed him as brain dead and were going to pull him off of life support. A turely tragic accident to a legend in rallying.
