In waambulance news, Monday I was given a file of 32,955 UPCs to review. My boss said I had until 5/25 to work through em.... not too bad.

BUT on Tuesday she says "sorry I made a mistake. The exceptions (the UPC file) are due by Friday." So I spent about 20 of the last 48 hours looking at fucking flashlights, lightbulbs, and automotive chemicals. It was a good time

On the plus side, I finished going insane in the process. Been working on the transition for decades

So it's more complicated to work on, and far more expensive to fix, with all the extra parts that will need to be replaced if it fucks up. I'm sure it will make technicians at Jeep dealerships a lot of money.

From what I'm reading about this automotive travesty now, its as bad as it sounds like it would be. I remember when the 8-spd Lexus LS came out a few years back and pretty much everyone agreed that was overkill. This thing seems like its gears for the sake of gears (four OD gears!)

Its been so long since i cracked open one of the R&T or Automobile mags that come to me every month, I probably would have heard about this last year. Goddam I'm out of the loop

ford/lincoln have been making an 8 speed for quite some time. I think its a logical direction to move in, transmissions are very inefficient and that are needs improvement for optimal milage on a normal car but jeeps are also expected to perform somewhat off road right out of the box meaning that they have to also have more low end torque. I think looking improve the transmission is a great idea. Who cares if the average Joe cant fix it, your average Joe cant fix his 4 speed transmission either.
