Run the pooop out of it Gir!

Hum, I checked our local rental enterprise and I can rent a Stang(V8) from Friday night to Sunday for $100.
Bring it back with bald tires

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

Ok 90 for the entire time sounds much better. I was about to say! I rent for about 30 a day around here. and that gets me a compact - "mid" size car. The only difference is i normally end up with an upgrade by the time i walk out! For instance I was supposed to get an Aveo/metro got a grand am-- supposed to get a G6 got a sante fe. only once did i get something lower, and that was I was supposed to get an upgrade right off the bat, a nice brand new ford escape.... well that went by the waste side and they gave me a freakin KIA with no gas. I wasn't very happy with that one!

Definetly beat it up Gir! it's a toyota, it's gonna break anyways! LOL

Xi, put a bumper sticker on the SE that says you have an honor roll student in someschool. That'll make it look even more like a grocery getter!

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

i dont even see why someone would want something bigger like a mid or full size car.... I just need something to get me to B from A .. ill just tear it up on the way there haha

brakes work good to, some guy in a parking lot I was in wasnt even paying attention to look my way and here I come flyin down in that first gear

Its come to my attention that doing the heater core doesnt fit my wallet situation so im just going to by-pass it seeing its almost summer and I dont have that kind of money to spend at the moment lol

I still gotta get to the dealership after coolant is fixed to point out my power steering pump on where it is leaking at if they can help me out with that, only place to get the leaky sensor and the new variable timing pump is from the dealer here grrr

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

so heater core has been bypassed, bought 2 90degree couplings 5/8th and bought a 5/8ths hose for the middle section, I didnt have time to do it so I took it to my kwik kar guy, they managed to break I think one of the plastic pieces that stick out from the firewall.. grrr but at least its fixed I guess...

I need to go buy more coolant and purge the air out of the system, not sure how affective it'll be if I still use the slight incline method with no heater core but there is def air still in there cause my low coolant light is on...

Just been so busy, now im glad I have this rental car cause Im doing so much while my GA is just in the driveway sitting clean. My guy at kwik kar and I found out the new pump placed onto my GA wasnt the correct one (but it still works ) I need the pump with the variable timing w/e... the more expensive one, and hes going to just do it at my house w/o having the shop charge from it....

its leaking out from the sensor under the 2 lines on the actual pump, not keeping pressure so its just flowin out when I turn.... if I keep fluid in it I should be ok till its fixed...

I drove my GA home yesterday after the HC bypass and it didnt feel like the GA anymore lol... I realized how badly my brakes SUCK!, and theres a problem with the lines or something... its just not getting to both calipers but ill worry about that later... I just need it fixed asap so I can get this rental car off of my hands, so I dont rip out the first gear haha

I know that feeling! Well at least it's somewhat taken care of so far, until you can get it fully fixed. I can say i hated the brakes on the g/a! Mine were never quite right, and the abs constantly kicked in. While you have the rental have fun with it... as I always look at it that my car won't be getting more miles, plus it's someone elses problem after i turn it in!

Yesterday i finally got the 6 washed... so now it's back to its original blue/gray color, and it's cloudy and flurrying today... When i was driving home since it was windy as hell a box flew into the front of the car and scratch as well as took a chunk of paint off the bumper... i wasn't very happy with this.

Here's a new report on fender bender crash tests that came out the other day. Now i know i have to be careful with the G6 and not have an accident

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

G6 News:

Look for the GTP's 6-speed automatic to be available for other G6s in the near future. GM plans to use this transmission to boost mpg for most of its mainstream car lines. The next year or two could also bring even sportier GXP models with the 3.6-liter engine, plus performance-tuned suspension, tires, and other unique features. Looking ahead, sources expect G6 to be redesigned for model-year 2010 on GM's new Epsilon II front-drive architecture. Current models are first-generation Epsilons. The new platform premieres in North America with redesigned 2008 Chevrolet Malibu sedans.

G6 GXP? Could that mean supercharged?

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

grfnkl, I saw some of those reports on CNN too.

I always though that these new cars were made to break away. But its your wallet that gets broken

The way the fronts line up to other cars and gaurd rails, you bang into something and its $4500 in damages.

Gir, sounds like you need overhauled !
Go sign up for "pimp my ride" on MTV website.
That would be tits!

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

G6 GTP --- could be supercharged! The body kit for it isn't all that great though. Large front grille, make the car look like it has buck teeth.

I have to agree with XI, i think you need to be overhauled, or pimped... but Overhauled is so much better with foose. No crazy crap like fish tanks, and your own ktichen built into your ride... like being pimped. Just more electrical headaches available.

I have no intensions of testing my wallet over my bumper.

I took a pic of my Grand Am Intaglio print. Don't mind the blurry and distorted look, I didn't feel like taking the pic out of the frame.

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

dunno, AF was so busy I couldnt even visit the site earlier

thx xi for that image earlier

I went outside and took one look at the location... NOPE! Another day lol... Went back inside and grabbed some beer boiled hotdogs and had me a drunken feast sooo delicious

Found out the new power steering pump placed onto my car is ment for a 3.1L ...

Kwik Kar has failed me, ignorant buttholes

Im getting a new pump, new VAS, and new tank possibly and pulley tomorrow from the dealership

Going to just do it myself,

After this friday's payday Im buying my aeroforce gauge finally, and maybe 62mm TB but we'll see

I got in contact with SSHeaders, they're still alive... just never pick up their phones

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

Thats probly you first mistake.
Relying on those guys at the kwiki place to do anything other then changing fluids is never a good idea.

Most of the time they are nobs and dont know much about car maintenance.

I have been looking at some hood modifications.
I saw this one on a rival GA site.

Only cost $100 for the ram air hood piece.
then paint & labor, free for me

I wouldnt want mine to look exactly like someone elses though.

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

Xi: believe it or not that pic is rather small, it's only about a 4x6. It's hard though to get a good pic, without scanning it though since the paper is bubbled and warped due to the type of printing.

the hood lookes good, but i understand on wanting to be unique. Unless you go all out custom and bevel edges, and make a deeper scoop look inside the ram air opening, that could be an option or you can just fabricate your own hood all together!

Hey gir that sucks, they gave you the wrong part. you can never trust mechanics sometimes... Do the parts look remotely the same? even a size difference normally would tip someone off... i guess not in this case.

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

yea man, the pump fitted up exactly like the 3.4L, the tank looks a little smaller and the pulley is different but its basically the same, cept in my case its spewin fluid on that VAS below the two lines...

taking it right up to the dealer for an auto tech to check it out, going to see if I can reuse anything I already have, the pulley is different from the original but if I have to bite the bullet ill go ahead and get a whole new assembly... just want it to WORK free of problems so I can be back on track with TB and headers... the HC bypass job they did kinda pissed me off, didnt even use the 90 degree couplings I bought

Its keeping temp now tho right at 200F

Im just worried that its kinked cause they did it right on those 2 lines that go before and after the heatercore... just some hose wrapped around

I miss the heater already brrrr!!!! this morning sucked .. 34F and no heat.. grabbed my hoodie in the backseat and tried to warm up

I might invest in a selection of tools and start doing my own stuff, the TB im sure I could do... doesnt look to difficult
