Re: Cayman Interseries | modern racers with historic liveries

Hi to everybody, this is my first post here. I’m writing from Tokyo but I’m Italian (yes, I know another one…). I’ve been bewitched by these cars from the very beginning of this post, so, after tormenting myself for about a week (to build or not to build…) I’ve ordered 2 TKs. The first one will be used for the Rothmans livery, the second one… I haven’t decided yet!

I’ve started cutting a rim and filling it with putty.

Hoping it will become something like this:

I’ve closed the taillights to give it the new shape, probably not the best approach, but in this way I can make a copy in resin of that area in order to be able to (or I should say “I think I’ll be able to”) realize the taillights with thermoformed clear styrene.

I’ve tried to give to taillights the same shape.

And this is a shot of the result:

Other few changes:

I’ve modified the front area also:

And now I’ll start to work on the interior and the roll-bar.

See you soon

Very nice job my friend, quite smooth: seeying your looks easy, despite it isn't Bravo! And for the livery: cool, one of the best one to me.

Wow Ring (and welcome to AF) ! I totally agree with Gio, very nice job.

One question to those of you who are going to updating the body: will you modify also the headlights?

Thanks

Robi

Hey! Welcome to AF, Ring! Great to have you here with us. The mods you did to the body look excellent. Looking forward to see how you'll make the taillights....

Re: Cayman Interseries | modern racers with historic liveries

Thank you for the warm welcoming, guys.

@gionc: Thanks, the psychedelic is very cool also. I'm sure you will show us anoher example of your pro technic, I love that golcen martini logo of yours! At the beginning I thought to make the second car like the purple psychedelic, but I haven't a clue on how to make the withe decals and with just 1 car to do, probably is to expensive to ask to the service you are using.

@Robi J: Thanks, I think I'll modify the headlights also, it doesn't look so hard.

@Mikezibit & voyageur: Thank you so much guys, I'll try to do my best.

Not really: 10€ for one A4 (normally two 1/24 decal set), looks me a great price: I wouldn't buy myself an ALPS and mantain it with this service cost to print a couple times/years

in this case... I have just to do enough decals to fill an A4
Thanks for the info.

Hi Fabiano, thanks for your kind, too kind words about me. I already had the chance to state I'm not a master, maybe a clean hand only.

We have here at AF some real Masters, but honestly I do not belong to that list.

Re: Cayman Interseries | modern racers with historic liveries

Hello guys,

I finally got around to do some work on the BRUMOS Cayman. The radiators have been painted flat aluminum, the sourrounding areas flat black...

... the assembly was installed along with the detailed headlights:

Three Radiators. I trimmed the piece that sourrounds the central radiator, giving it more airflow:

And a close-up shot of the headlights:

The window trim is also done. I used an Edding, the 0.25mm Rotring Rapidograph for touch-ups and 3M Electrocut foil...

Next up are the taillights, interior, etc. Pics coming soon.

Cheers

Re: Cayman Interseries | modern racers with historic liveries

Looks great seb!

Quick question:

I've always been confused about how to get decals to snug into panel lines like you had done here:

Do you cut the decal in the panel line and then pad down the decal?

Oh and did you build the diorama (garage)?... looks amazing!!
