Re: Books on the Mclaren - Which ones to get and why

I recently bought this book for the pictures of the engine bay of #025, and I just had this arrive on my doorstep; a few nice shots of #046 set in a studio, with some nice write ups from Frank Stephenson with the forewward by Gordon Murray

Re: Books on the Mclaren - Which ones to get and why

It's about time I got less of a hoarder and released one of my 7 (!!) Michael Cotton GTR books.

PM me if you are interested, and I am after at least the asking price on eBay [but you may catch me on a good day and It may go for less, make me an offer... ]

For the book-crazed among us, I don't recall seeing a soft cover version of the 1996 GT Endurance book before.

Re: Books on the Mclaren - Which ones to get and why

Also...

For US-based McLaren enthusiasts, Coterie Press have added the boxed set of "McLaren: The Cars" and "McLaren: The Wins". Find them here if you are interested. The copy of "The Cars" is the updated version that includes cars through 2012.

For some reason it shows 'Sold Out' in other markets, but I think that has more to do with their concerns for delivering these via mail-order. I had to beg a little and volunteer to be the guinea pig when I first contacted them about it. With plenty of packing materials, mine arrived in perfect shape.

I bought one of those inadvertently , not knowing they did a soft back version. When it arrived I was disappointed but then quite excited as I hadn't seen one before. It has now gone from my collection, but for more than I paid for it but for less than what it's currently being advertised for

I think the pricing of that one on Ebay is a little optimistic, I think the seller also has GT 1997 available for a similarly high price.

Hey, nothing wrong with rising prices... for those of us who have them already, that is.

I do agree with you though - these are different times and prices are down on many non-essential things.

Re: Books on the Mclaren - Which ones to get and why

Just paid for a copy of this:

It is Book #8 in a series on BMW's history and this one has a chapter on "SPORTS CAR VICTORIES AT LE MANS McLAREN; F1 - V12LMR"

I'll have something to say about it when it arrives but even if the McLaren content is a rehash of the typical stuff I expect I'll enjoy the rest of the book as well.

For those in the UK there's a copy on Ebay here.

When you got it; it would be nice to know what images there is of GTR's or F1's. And what kind of story it has.

I'll be interested to know what's in the book about the F1 too, I've been keeping an eye on it for a while but so far resisted buying it as I'm unsure of its specific content.
