Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

GT is running great still !!
Gas mileage has increased to around 26 city.

I got 278 miles on 10 gals of gas, this is my new goal, to get the most MPG possible.
I think I'm going to start a MPG club.

No, 40 mpg would be AWESOME !!

I might be going to Georgia in the next few weeks, going to drive the GT and see how it does out on the highways.

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

40 MPG on the highway would be awesome and very easily doable in the GT. The best i ever got on my gt was 33 MPG and that was me doing 74ish on the highway If i went a little slower Im sure I could have seen even higher. The 26 in the city is pretty impressive though I do have to admit.

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

Well the first 750 miles city MPG was due to keeping the rpms no more then 3k.
It realy made some folks mad because I was driving so granny like. lol tootin thier horns, and flying the bird and everything.....maybe I should keep it up. lmao

I think the best mpg I got on the SE was also 33mpg, mostly intertsate. I'd drive that down south but it needs new struts put on bad!
Was waiting on finding some 2" drop springs but thats not going to happen, no one makes them that low. Air ride is the next option...

Man my GT needs to spend some time at your place! I get less than 240 miles on my entire tank! Usually have to fill up around 220! What's your secret?

My gp is stuck at 28 mpg on the highway and that is it. I get around 435 to 450 miles per tank. Gas prices around here have dropped. I am paying 3.72 per gallon now. Wonder how long that will last.

We are down to just above $3.50 here in the tri state. It feels nice but I can still remember paying $2 a gallon. Those were the days.

Exactly. . . Seems hard to beleive! What is this world coming to? Man yesterday the GT spit out a spark plug on the interstate. The plug wire melted to the rad hose. Never heard that noise before, don't think I will ever forget it! Re threaded the hole, now back to good as new!

Well th GT has a new top end, new plugs/wires, new O2 sensors. The SE is pretty much new too. I've kept them under 2000 rpms.... thats the hard part and probly the key trick. On highways I dont go over 75 mph, the gas seems to go faster when going faster then 75.
I also try and clean my fuel system once a year via the shradder valve on the fuel rail, keeps those misfires at bay.

Now the SE can drop drasticly if I'm leadfootin it! It can get as low as 16-18mpg in the city from jack rabbit starts and racing ricers from light to light. lol

Yeah GP's have a bigger tank, either 18 or 22 gallon, depending on year/model.

And gas prices are lower here, been 3.65-3.70 for reg, but I burn premium these days, still under $4. A few weeks ago I was paying 4.75 for premium.

TGIF !!

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

The gas prices are definetly out of hand. I think the last time i got gas back in the beginning of the month, i found the cheapest i could find at 3.97 and I would only put 20-40 dollars worth in. I couldn't afford anymore then that. I miss the days where gas was 89 cents for regular! I think the last time the tank was filled up on the car was back in May and 50+ something dollars later I was broke! What would kill me for gas was living in the area i did. Constant NJ traffic! It sucked! No matter where you turn you sit in traffic or at another traffic light eating up your MPG. Then in true nature i would get frustrated, so at the next open area of road you floor it eating up more MPG. My only regret to trading in my GT was the gas mileage since that car got some damn good mileage. The g6 gtp drank gas like it was water.

I am surprised to hear that. I just took my mom's G6 to Florida and I couldn't beleive the gas mileage I got. It took me a couple hundred dollars less than I thought it would to get down there and back! I was getting 34.8mpg driving through Alabama, I couldn't have been any happier!

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

Any GTP usualy doesnt get to good of MPG, IMO that's from hot roding it.

I just filled up at lunch, figured this round mpg- I only got 25.5 mpg(280 miles/11 gals) though its been realy hot and humid here, seems to eat the gas more.

Your mom probably doesn't have the 3.9L GTP like i did. THe best i ever got on the highway with that car was just barely 27mpg. Most of the time I only saw about 24-25 on the highway, 20.5 mixed driving and 15 in the city.
