This boys and girls would be the reason why when you want to keep an item seperate of anything else remotely like it so you don't use the wrong one, You keep it far far away from everything else.

Geez, so alot of items in your shop like to get up and walk away?

Meh, I know what you mean, if it' s not my wife's family/friends taking my stuff, now it's my own boys

So I went and bought a new bigger tool chest to lock everything up in, and now I have nothing to put in it

Looks good! There is just one question I'm going to have for you when you are finally done........

How many extra bolts do you have.

Well, I had a box of spare bolts already from previous little things done to it. But now, I don't seem to have enough bolts... Its pretty sad. lol

I had a nice collection of spare bolts from the interior project. Not sure where I forgot to put some in at. lol

Re: Blackcrow64's Talon TSi AWD Project... Warning: Lots of pictures!

Another little update for the day here...

I'm not a happy camper at all... My weekend excursion is now delayed as I have to order a new pressure plate... I also have this other problem that I need to get opinions on...

Ok, first off, for anybody else putting a 6 bolt into a 2g. You have to modify the 2g motor mount on the timing belt side a bit...

As you can see, the 2g one is on the left and the 1g one is on the right... The red line represents what I had to grind off in order to clear the water pump on a 6 bolt motor...

I just threw that one in there for the heck of it... Timing belts are oh so much fun...

Ok, here is what I need help with... I have a bolt broken off in my crossmember. Problem is, I can't drill it out cause there is a thin tab welded to the underside of the crossmember with a nut welded to that... Well I went to tap it with a center punch so I could drill it out and I broke the welds to the stupid little thin piece... So now it kinda bends down and under whenever ya put too much pressure on it...

So I'm thinking... Will I be ok to just use 2 bolts in my motor mount there? I mean, I really don't wanna drop all my steering components and shit just for that one stupid bolt. I figure there is gonna be a bolt on either side of the motor mount already, but I'm wondering if it'll actually be safe without using that one... I circled the broken one in red in the picture below...

Opinions? I sure could use some help on this one...

**EDIT**
I almost forgot... Will I be able to mix my competition clutch disc with something else like an ACT pressure plate or not?

**DOUBLE EDIT**
lol, I bet this is the first double edit ever... Anyways... I have good news... The pressure plate was found in a scrap pile at this other guys house. lol It was pretty funny, I was like holy shit thats my pressure plate! And of course its covered in rust, so I have to do a little work on it... Don't worry I'll take a picture of it. Its pretty funny... Oh and I also figured out what to do with the motor mount... Taking the lower half and bolting it down and welding the whole thing to the crossmember now. lol It'll work... I think...

Re: Blackcrow64's Talon TSi AWD Project... Warning: Lots of pictures!

So another day has come and gone and I have spent another 9 hours with my car today...

Things would be going so much smoother if I didn't have to tear the old 7 bolt apart as I go for bolts and brackets. lol

So I'm just gonna get to it and post up all the pictures that everyone is eager to see... I almost got to drop the motor and tranny in tonight but ran out of energy and got frustrated with trying to put the tranny on by myself...

So here is the pressure plate after it was found... I sanded the surface rust off already at this point before I took a picture...

And after...

It was in pretty rough shape...

But I was able to resurface it and save it... I think...

The 1g timing belt covers can be used with minimal cutting... Most people hack off a ton but I was able to do it like this... The red lines show where I cut it out...

I decided to give this a quickie... I grinded off the ribs and polished it somewhat. I coulda done better but I am only gonna run that intake this summer, so yeah...

Anybody else with a 6 bolt swap run into this? My power steering doesn't line up with anything else and I can't remember what belts run off what on a 2g... Anybody wanna help me out with this one? Do I have to run a 1g power steering pump or somethin?

As it sets while I sleep...

Again...

And again...

From this angle you can almost pretend its in the car already. lol

Thats all I have from today... It feels like its moving along so slowly but at the same time it feels like I'm going so fast... I have no clue what speed I'm actually moving at anymore. lol

i think you need a 1g power steering bracket... if i remember correctly from the swap i did, i belive it was also the 1g pump... not sure though... hope that helps!

Re: Blackcrow64's Talon TSi AWD Project... Warning: Lots of pictures!

Ok so I decided to call off work tonight just so I could continue working on this thing... Needless to say I'm exhausted... I've spent about 18 hours on this thing since last night...

Ok here is the progress...

I figured out that I was missing a pully that went under the one pully on the water pump and that solved my alignment issue...

I got the tranny mounted on it before I put it in... I was curious as to if it was really as hard as everyone says...

Got it up there and almost tipped the whole hoist cause I forgot to put the legs out further.

After a long time of angling it and lining things up I finally got it in...

Ahhh It looks so nice now... The hardest part is past... Now all I have left is wiring, some sensors/thermostat housing stuff, fuel, and IC piping...

And this is what caused me to call it quits tonight...

I was all done with the air gun and I was winding up the hose in this thing. For the people who don't know, this is spring loaded so it automatically winds the hose up when you give it a tug... They need a warning sticker on it... Warning: Do not straddle hose while winding up... Imagine this... Hose is winding up at full speed and I have one hand on it guiding it in and the other end is just flipping and flopping the kinks out as it winds up... With the last 3 feet or so It totally flipped straight up and the rubber stopper junk shotted me so hard that I almost blacked out and almost threw up in the garage... So I decided to come ice my nuts and post this...

Hope ya'll are enjoying this...
