Dr. Speed makes CAI for G6 but the g6performance.com site is saying that he hasnt been on in months, someone said somewhere that he might of hurt his back or something.. but no surprise.. it took me nearly 2 months to get my dr.speed intake!

i hear that GT-R exhaust is nice, you can prob find youtube clips of the sound

g6performance.com would have more info with the PCM tune im sure

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

Yeah I know about Dr Speed ( kyle) he hasn't been around in months. I don't know what happened thought to him. There's another guy that i know that makes his own CAI called the CRAB. it comes with a functional airbox that could be hooked up to the MPD ram air hood. So that would be my other alternative. The GT-R Exhaust is sweet sounding, especially on the GTP like mine. I am at the G6P site so I've met a lot of ppl that have these things so i know what I'm looking at and where and how much, etc... I'm not hard to find there either... Hmmm.... grfnkl... hahahah I'm just not good for screen name changes.

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

finally the weekend!

Its funny how only certain car makes/models ever get aftermarket and performance parts, never understood that.

That CRAB sounds cool! Makes sense too utalise the ram hood, some of the GA SCT's have a functional hood, not many tho.
This guy at work(roboticgod) has an 05 sct , and his hood doesnt go into the air box, though we're working on making it functionall.

modsmodsmodsmods, and not enough hours in the day to design.

lol

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

Here's a link for the crab intake. IF i were to go for it I would go for the regular air box and not the ram air one, since I personally don't like the Ram Air hood for the 6. The SC/t Hood for the grand am was much better designed. I know of roboticgod. I haven't seen him around much on the forums. I know the GM SC/T hood was more for appearance then functionality, unlike some of the aftermarkets... Oh well I guess you can't get it all!

Just taking one mod at a time.

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

I like how that one CAI goes in front of the engine to the pass side. That doesnt seem like it would be a Cold air intake, a HAI maybe. lol

Its bitter cold here today, 15 deg with a 40 mph wind making it feel like -10.

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

Yeah it's not really a CAI, by the time it gets to the engine it's more of a WAI. I know somepeople have worked on making custom heatsheilds. I personally havn't seen too much heat soke on mine, just on occasion.

It got really windy here too earlier! We also had a snow shower that coated everything with snow! I know tonight it;s gonna go down to about 18 degrees.. It's gonna be COLD here too!

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

If i was going to snake the CAI acrossed like that I would run it in front of the radiator like a inter coolr.
I thought about trying to put a inter cooler on the SE with out any boost, but I doubt any big gains . It would have some people wondering when they see it tho.

yeah single digits here tonight, with that 30-40mph wind making it feel -10. I'm getting ready to see if the GT will fire up, its about 15 deg now, I suspect it'll crank slow and tick for several minutes.

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

god up in Granger we had white-out conditions today... people in ditches, driving in cornfields and strill thinking they were on the road, people in ditches, etc... and this was all within a few feet of each other. Insanity... surprised my family survived their way back (they only went a mile out and turned around because it was so bad). It was blowing snow like a bitch... it was just horrible. I'm safely back in West Lafayette tho!

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

Ive noticed that there seems to be a power issue in my car... everything will dim for a second then go back... it seems to have effect even on my fuel pump, I can hear the whine goto a lower tone and watch my headlights also dim...

Alternator?

I noticed this the other night just in idle waiting on my girl to hurry up, dunno really what the issue would be...

I fixed my other coolant leak I had, basically as a block, I put some 3/8th rubber bulb like plugs and tighten'd them down on the black coolant metal line over the headers, they didnt last but a year or so and finally cracked under pressure and started to squirt out a good amount of coolant... so I re-ran some threaded fuel return lines to the TB and back, no leaks now and working I guess how it should of been lol

Also, I dunno if my TPS sensor is just old or needs to be cleaned, pulled a code like P0122 or something like that, found out it was my TPS sensor, just sorta wiggled it and the engine sounded better running on the spot.... because it was messed up somehow, my tranny was just doing very hard gear shifting like P -> R and anything else ... sorta like BOOM, I just parked it and scanned the code w/ my gauge and looked it up here... but its working now, didnt even clean it but im sure a electronics clean of my car would be nice

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

Gir- It sounds like you have a power leak/surge somewhere causing the random drain on the electrical. I've never really seen an alternator do that, other then if a few internal electrodes go out, but you would see more of a consistant flickering of your lights. If anything put a volt meter up to it and check it out. Seems like you've had a lot of coolant leaks and SES lights recently as well.

Well today some snow/ ice and rain for us.... Oh joy! I better get out and start my girls car today before this crap comes about!

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

Hey Gir, the Zone can test your alternator load on the car to see if its the problem. But I'd suspect battery cables and some of those ground straps , battery to block, block to body etc etc.
I'd also check those tail light fixtures, if they are getting melted or corroded, that'll cause your dimming.

Yeah Vipey, that shits been going around!!
My kids all have had the flu bug, fever, stomach aches and the ...... diarrhea !

I'm still imune!!
Hard to believe when I've spent more time outside in the last month then inside.
I guess that's life.
