Re: WIP: 1970 'Gulf' Porsche 917K
at last! wiring completed!
![]() ![]() Definately the most involved I have done to date (even more than my old 310B and that was bad enough) anyway, reasonably pleased with it in the end. I reckon judging by the speed Phil has put his together he should have finished the whole engine and have it installed by now - onto the exhausts & top fan for me now.see you on the next update!

Re: WIP: 1970 'Gulf' Porsche 917K
Excellent work, Sean. Your engine looks great. I'm going to have to order one of those engines for my 917, then I only hope that I can do half that well with it.

Excellent job!
Sean, what did you use for the fuel injectors(?) at the end of the fuel lines? I'm sorry if you mentioned this earlier and I am just too lazy to find it

Another masterpiece in miniature. I love all the wiring and great attention to details.

Congrats on finishing - looks great! I notice you and I have done quite a few things differently, which is good.

![]() Phil, to be honest I dont know about you but there seems to be a huge variation in reference pictures for the 1970 car that I gave up trying to replicate the actual car from the that year's Le Mans. I would post the reference pictures which I am trying to base the car on but I got 'words of advice' on here a while ago for posting someone else's pictures and thought best not to risk it again. As long as the car 'resembles' the 70 car I'll be happy, have to say I have been really motivated by yours though and have definately borrowed a few ideas from you - hope you dont mind too much! Still havent figured the doors out yet - but Im determined to get the opening somehow!

I drilled the cover and then inserted a small section of fuse wire next to each inlet, I then added a wider section of plastic tubing, painted silver, over the top of each piece of wire but leaving enough to also insert the end of the clear tube into. I then inserted each fuel line into the corresponding hole and bent it over and into each inlet - extremely time consuming and v.frustrating at times but I got there in the end!

Hi Steve,
The completed engine looks terrific. Plenty of food for thought for everyone who reads this WIP. Thanks a million, Bill |
