I have a 2002 Xterra SE/SC 2WD. I have had it for one year and I have 22,000 miles on it. Recently, I have noticed that when I turn the wheel to the right at a stop or at really low speeds (like when I am backing out of the driveway) the steering wheel is really stiff and hard to turn to the right but it seems normal when I turn it to the left. This doesn't sound like the problem that the idler arm bracket fixes but I am new to the message board so I am not sure...maybe you guys hear of this problem every day. I read through 4 or 5 pages of threads and didn't see anything similar to my problem so I thought I would post. Any assistance is appreciated. Thanks.

Unless it was a typo, he said he had a 2WD, not 4WD... only thing I can think of is maybe he bent something? Hitting a curb or large pothole too fast?

I just re-read it and it sounds like he has a 2wd so it can't be a hub or any 4wd kind of problem.
Something bent is possible, but I'm trying to think what he could have bent that only effects one turning direction. You mentioned it does it when stopped. Do you have a habit of turning the wheel when your truck is not moving forward? It's under warranty though, so that's the good thing.

Thanks for the feedback. I guess I will have to live without it for a day while it sits at the dealership. I will have them take a peek at it. Thanks again. -scriptkiddie
