I really need some help
I have this engineering homework and I chose the Datsun 240Z (1972 HLS30) Rally car version as my car to work on. And for some reason I cannot find some of the information about the car that I need like, top speed and 0-100 of it on asphalt. If you know these stats or have any idea how to find them please help me.

Re: I really need some help
For a 1972 Datsun 240Z (HLS30) in 'Works' Rally spec, specifically for asphalt (like the Monte Carlo Rally), finding exact data can be tough because it depended on the gearing for that specific race. However, based on technical specs from the era, you can use these figures for your homework:
Top Speed (Asphalt): Approximately 220–225 km/h (137–140 mph). This was achieved using the 11.0:1 high-compression L24 engine producing about 220 hp, paired with a 5-speed close-ratio gearbox. 0–100 km/h (0–62 mph): Approximately 6.2 to 6.8 seconds on asphalt. While a stock 240Z did this in about 8.0 seconds, the rally cars used much shorter final drive ratios (like 4.375 or 4.625) to blast out of tight tarmac corners. Engineering Tip: If you need to cite a source, look for the Group 4 FIA Homologation papers for the S30. The 'Monte Carlo' spec was the lighter, lower, and faster version compared to the 'Safari' spec, which was built for durability over rough dirt." |
