Opinions on currently available metallic and chrome paints?

As the topic states, I'm looking to update my metallic paints. Looking for a good color range and ease of use/durablity.

I've used Alclad 2 for nearly 20 years, liked how they handle but was/am looking to get more color choice and hopefully a chrome that withstands masking/ handling.

I've also tried Vellejo, still 'feeling' my way around water/alcohol based paints.

I've always had a 'heavy hand' when airbrushing... so its really hard for me to mist coat anything

Paints that I can't get due to customs or environmental laws either locally or origin:
Gunze
Zero
Gaia

TIA for any replies

Re: Opinions on currently available metallic and chrome paints?

I prefer Alclad, Zero paints and Mr.Color C or MC range. I had bad experience with Alclad chrome as it turned white in bottle twice. Other Alclad paints were good. Also had bad experience with AK Extreme metal because it got destroyed by oil wash even if their site states that is resiliant to weathering. Other than mentioned it is great paint, easy to apply with nice metal shine.

In general my vote would go for lacquer based paints as I like quick drying, good resiliance and durability to wash or decal setting solutions.

Re: Opinions on currently available metallic and chrome paints?

Same, I love lacquer paints... but due to local laws... there are only a few paint brands that are able to be imported now. Gaia, Mr Color, etc.... Basically any brand/line that uses MIBK as the solvent is now banned in Taiwan..
Can't get Zero paints here due to the RPS not shipping hazardous materials to Taiwan since around 2012 or something like that...
Waiting on a shipment of AK xtreme to test out the line...
