Transmission issue?

4 times now on fairly cold days in the 30's I've started driving and a half mile down the street I get a message on the dash saying

"Can not shift into drive while vehicle is in motion"

The light next to drive is blinking, the engine shuts off. When I stop and place in park the car tries to start once, it doesn't. Then I try it a second time and it struggles but gets started and is fine after that.

It's a 2018 jeep cheorkee with 55,000 miles. The only thing I tried so far was disconnecting the battery for a half hour and that didn't fix it.

Re: Transmission issue?

Sounds like a transmission sensor that's telling the computer it's not in gear when it is....time for some computer diagnostics.

I'd head to an auto parts store first, they've got the tools to read codes, and some of those guys really know what they're looking at.

Is your warranty over? If not, go into the dealer.
