Kia amanti transmission problem

2004 kia amanti. Shift really hard going from park to drive and reverse. When driving wont shift higher than 3ed gear than wont shift back down to 1st gear until shut car off and turn back on. Tried adding gear lube. Still same problem. Wjat could be the problem and what do I do
