Broken Rear Glass 99 Jimmy

My son was driving the 99 Jimmy tonight and said he parked at WalMart and came out to put the groceries in the back, and as soon as he started to open the rear hatch, the glass shattered completely. A pic is attached.

You may recall I posted earlier this year about needing a rear bumper for the car because my daughter had been driving the car when it was hit from the rear. Is it possible that the impact from that event could have caused an electrical problem with the rear defrost that finally resulted in this event of shattered glass?

We need to replace the rear hatch with a complete unit. Any suggestions on where to go? The local PIY yards do not have many Jimmys or Blazers.
