The sad part about the EDSEL story that is real is the Edsel gained the reputation for being the worst disaster in the history of the Automobile!
In reality It was no worse that any other 1958 mid class car, it in fact was almost identical to the Mercury of the same year. Even the electronics that were known to fail were the same in both cars! The car was released into the worst recession the auto industry ever seen that killed Packard , Hudson, and the large Nash! Edsel was a brand new car line that had no followers!
