Hanging RPM's while shifting gears
I have a 97 Ranger, 2.3L with the 5speed. Intermittently, the RPM's will stay high in between shifting gears and take a few seconds to drop to idle speed. The truck idle's fine. It starts up no problem. With or without the A/C, it doesn't matter. Only reason I noticed this is I can feel and hear the truck while shifting gears. Other standard shifting cars I have driven usually drop the RPM'a when you push the clutch in. But this engine won't. I cleaned the air/idle control valve and the throttle body. I insured the cable wasn't hanging up or anything. Anybody else's Ranger doing this? Is it normal? or is there a connection problem or computer problem?
