I'd imagine it is hard to keep track of the GTR mileages - they don't have a speedo just a digital rev counter, and most owners I've seen use a SatNav to gauge their speed.

Another quick question

What is the service interval of F1's?
I've heard 3000 miles/4000 miles & 9/12 months?

I've not seen it confidently in print but I think 9 months or 3,000 miles is the guideline. Believe only one owner has exceeded the mileage limitation before the time limit expired - that's what Paul MacKenzie told a few of us in Monterey back in 2011 anyway.

The GTRs have a speedo configurable from the dash but no odometer. The engine hours need to be manually logged in order to gauge time to rebuild. A little difficult once they are out of the hands of a race team logging every mile they cover!

I would have thought that in order to get through the SVA they would need an odometer as well as a speedo unless McLaren just don't bother with SVA'ing the GTR conversions?

As they are over 10 years old now they just need an MOT hence why some cars are 'converted' and others 'legalised'.

Erik you are slipping in your old age!
9 months or 5k miles, surely you have seen an F1 service book before? Picture attached in case not! And yes it is almost unheard of for people to exceed mileage before time, even when we extend time to 12 months.

This part is true. The older I get, the better I was.

If the factory recommended service interval is 5,000 miles and the clutch has been reported by many to not last that long...

It depends on who is driving and how they drive! Many owners manage in excess of 5k miles if they don't slip the clutch.
On the flip side I have known of an in-experienced truckie wearing a clutch out between it leaving the workshop and arriving at the customers home. Total mileage driven by the F1 - less than half a mile!

Just came in to my mind; #12R has at least one engine change, Brands Hatch it had total engine failure 1996 BPR GT race.
And Driving Ambition tells details about #05R's engine.

Whilst looking around MTC on Google Streetview I came across this.

Appears to be an F1 with high mirrors, with a car cover to match. Judging by the wheel colour looks to have standard wheels.

Any idea who's it could be Erik?

I am thinking Ron's car? 050. As dont think it is Flemkes given the wheel colour

Saw that as well - impossible to tell with much certainty, but obviously 050 makes the most sense given the location and the presence of high mirrors. Ruling out 040 is likely smart, but there are still three other possibilities in addition to Ron's.

Does the F1 GT have luggage compartments like its shorttail roadcar siblings? I've never seen those larger sidepods open. It definitely looks like the panel gap lines are in the same place for it to open...
