2006 saturn vue key phob

I bought a key phob for my Saturn vue but haven't gotten it programmed yet. I have heard different stories about having to go to the dealer or I can program it myself. any suggestions, websites to help me with this? it would be greatly appreciated. thanks

stupid question, what is a scan tool and how much am I looking at, price wise, after that I think I can do it myself. I have the vue to program as well as a Saturn ion 2.
