Can't get the key out of the ignition
I have a 2005 Freestyle. My wife called me this morning and told me she could not get the key out of the ignition. I pulled the lock cylinder out and the key came out ok. I marked the cylinder position where you can pull the key out. I put it back in the column and found you can't turn the key back to the remove key position. It looks like it stopps about a 1/16 of an inch before you can remove the key. I put another lock cylinder in it and it did the same thing. Is there something in the linkage or the electical swich that would keep the key from truning all the way back to the key removal position? What should I look at next? I have tried moving the steering wheel and putting it in neutral. Any ideas?
Thanks. |

Re: Can't get the key out of the ignition
the ignition switch has a slight adjustment up or down, located lower down on the column ,the lock cylinder has a rod on it that actuates the ign switch sounds like this is what is out of adjustment the rod could be bent too
