Patto's decals: How is the fit?

So I am guessing that Patto's Place decals are created in 1/32 or 1/24 and then scaled up if you need them in 1/18 due to him being mostly about slot cars.
My question is how is the fit? For example let's take a Hot Wheels Ferrari F458 GT2. Do the stripes fit or are there nasty gaps with no way to fill them? Are the decals properly sized to fit the locations on the model or not so much?
Thanks everyone for any information - I've never used Patto but I am anxious to try a few!

Re: Patto's decals: How is the fit?

I used the Continental Tire logo decals. They have white color logos. They didn't have them in yellow (newest continental colors) so e-mailed them about it and they made them special for me in yellow to match a factory logo color at regular price. Excellent customer care!!!!

Re: Patto's decals: How is the fit?

A member of the race car model club I belong to was recently looking for replacement decals for a Monogram Ford Mustang GTP (the kit decals had yellowed). The kit is 1/24th scale, so he ordered the 1/24th decals for that car from Patto's. After he received them, he told me that the Patto's decals measured as being undersized by several millimeters (I don't remember how much he said).

I haven't ordered any decals from Patto's yet as I have seen reports/claims that Patto's has used (stolen) other people's decal artwork without authorization, but some of the decals they offer are not available anywhere else as far as I know. Each person would need to decide whether they wanted to do business with Patto's because of those claims.

Because Patto's caters to slot cars, I have just figured that any stripes or graphics likely wouldn't fit the kits correctly and probably would be better painted, and the main value of their decals would be for the other markings, sponsor logos, etc. Even if those are slightly off-sized, they may be better than having no markings at all.

Caveat emptor!

Re: Patto's decals: How is the fit?

Read through some more information on Patto's site and he confirms that the decals are based on 1/24 scale blueprints and scaled up as required. He warns that not all models are accurate and that if the decals do not fit there are not returns. He does offer that the decals can be adjusted by a percentage and offers a method for checking the size if you contact him via email prior to purchase. I guess I will take him up on that offer.

I was disappointed about quality...most of decals are transparent, lines are not well designed and finished, forget all white...won't try again...

I think I've heard that before about his quality which is sort of why I started this. Guess I was hoping that his newer stuff would be better.

Problem is I'm sort of expecting Cartograf quality and I'm sure his are not like that.

Re: Patto's decals: How is the fit?

Noddy
I have ordered decals from Patto's Place before 2011 " flying lizard" Porsche decals - both cars
Patto sent a set which were "full body" decal coverage for 1/24 gt3 RSR slot cars
I planned to use the decals for the two cars but the decals were damaged in shipping
I contacted Patto immediately upon receipt of the damage and he was very ameniable and offered full replacement including shipping. When I went to reorder from him for the replacement set he had then available decals that were "not full body colored" which were great
The decals are printed like from an Alps printer only I think better than that but not like cartograph where the decal has a cellulose covering to protect the ink
Patto can also " percentage" size the decals some If you need them a little bigger or smaller than the sample decals on the website that you can download the images and test fit
Patto provides excellent customer service and the quality of the decals are the best I've seen for non-cartograph type quality
If you take some measurements and want a set that are not available from anyone else then by all means give Patto a chance
There is also decaldoc in Germany that does Alps printer decals

Hope this gives you some Insight and help in your decision
John

Re: Patto's decals: How is the fit?

I have built several models with Pattos Place decals and they do vary alot. The newer decals I had did not have any bleed and took a clear coat without any problem. They are better quality than ALPS, but are printed the same way so they have to be cut out of the decal sheet. My two worries when I ordered them were will they take a clear coat and will the whites not bleed. I can say in those areas they did very well. Artwork can be from great to not very good. Look at the pictures on the website to see if the artwork is good and correct for the car you are doing. Quality of the printing will be the same now as he prints everything when he gets an order. I was pleased with 90% of the decals I bought from him. The other 10% were garbage, so it does depend on the artwork.
