Re: Ferrari F40 Competizione

Hello AF!
Here again with some more progress. I have added fuel rails and exhaust to the engine, worked on the interior and suspension. I can't say enough about Scale Motorsport's faux fabrix paint which I used on the interior. I ran into some alignment issues I hope to correct in the coming days. Enough words...

I used flat clear to give the kevlar a more aged look. In time I will weather it some more

The alignment issue is not that big since I didn't bother 2 put together tightly

So far I'm pleased with my progress. Let's see how the rest goes

Re: Ferrari F40 Competizione

Actually, leave the orange peel on. I will tell you why: On the real car, the body is carbon fiber and to save weight, they just sprayed a couple coats of paint over the body. If you look closely at a real one, you will see the weave of the CF through the paint.

Scott thanks for sharing such an interesting fact. I never would have thought of such a thing. Though I finished polishing, there is some I cannot get rid of if that helps

As I was looking at my reference pics, I noticed the air ducts to keep the rotors cool and decided to add that nice feature. I could not work much on the interior, since I'm waiting on some harness PE. The front suspension is finished and I hope to get the engine finished this week. I have 2 colors to choose from for the wheels, though I lean to the lighter color. Here are some pics...

I used red electrical tape to simulate the rubber sleeve that connects pipes

Making my own air ducts

Hope you guys like it. Thanks for looking

Its true & very sureal to see in person! I was lucky enough to drool over an F50 in Maranello & its very strange to see such an expensive car with a very wavey paint texture, & you can see stright through to the carbon fibre weave!!!

Second Best F40 build ive seen!!! great attension to detail!
Sorry hard to go past this one

Looking great so far! Think you'll have it done in time for the GTR NNL? Hope to see you there.

Re: Ferrari F40 Competizione

A wonderful build and model. I'm wondering if you're having some probs with the rear hatch - i did a standard f40 and wasn't very happy with the way it aligned. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Thank you Martini! So far it looks like I solved the issue. We shall see in the end. The engine bay is almost done. Just need to clean the body, work on the interior and clear parts. Plus whatever weathering I can think of.

Here's what I have so far..

Hatch before

Hatch now

Rear brake ducts. I don't know how or where they run to, so I'm making a simple guess

Wanted to see how its fitting together. After putting wheels on, I find myself not sure on the color....

Thanks for your comments and thoughts
