won't run please help!!

My brother in laws del sol starts, runs for like 1 second then just dies. Replaced fuel filter, got results! it started and ran for half an hour. then he shut it off, started the car again and it wouldnt run for more then 1 second again. its like it keeps stalling, and no matter how much you push on the gas pedal it doesn't rev at all it just dies. any ideas??

i changed the main relay (2 times) and the problem still there ... Runs for 1 second only.... If i try and try the car start ... Each time that i try delay less time to start until starts quick like no problem ... But the next day the same .. Any ideas???

the problem is the fuel pump ... Doesnt work because doesnt recive electricity....

could be the fuel pump on its way out. The main relay tends to be an on/off situation like a light switch, and usually when the car is hot/ambient temperature. How many miles are on the car? It may be worth looking into a new fuel pump as a maintenance item anyway. I think your going to find a ton of garbage in the tank and a dying pump.
