Out of Gas

I have a 2003 GMC Sierra that I just ran out of gas. I could not restart it, is there a reset on the fuel pump, or something I need to do manually? Tried turning it over at leave 20 times without any luck. Any idea's?

Jim

Re: Out of Gas

Hi,
On my 97 there is a little pigtail wire near the steering column behind the fuse box that you can jumper 12v to and the pump will keep running for test purposes.
Do you hear the pump for 4-5 seconds when you first turn on the key?
Is there any pressure at the schrader valve on the fuel line at rear of engine?
Find your pigtail and try it. do you have a pressure gauge?
Hook it up and watch.
Or depress the core in the schrader connector that is there in the line for testing to see if there is pressure.
One of my fuel pump failures, (3 in 2 years before I bought AC Delco, now Delphi) had an overheated motor that was melted from running it dry.
Scary in that tank full of gas!
Good luck,
Bob B
