Keyless Entry install is done... pics inside...

After I saw Brian's car (EFSleeper) and he had Keyless and Remote Start I thought it would be sweet to get that. I just finished my Keyless Entry today. It's great not having to put a damn key in the thing all the time. I know mounting the stupid actuators is the bane of doing this but I got it working fine with no rubbing or anything. And I have pictures so you can see how they should be mounted...

Door with the panel taken off...

Actuators have to be mounted behind and in the center of the door handle...

The metal bar it comes with is long and straight. That won't work in our doors since it's very cramped. So I had to cut it to about 1/3 it's size and bend it sort of like a square-root sign. Works very well...

I shoved all the controls for it up behind my glove box...

Running the wires to the driver door was easy since there are grommets their already...

The passenger side was harder so I ended up just running it with the speaker wire

And here is just some japanese word on the back of the door I thought was interesting...

It's an Autoloc kit and I believe it was $125. It's very nice. One thing I noticed after doing this is if you manually lock one door, it automatically locks the other side and vice versa. Which takes care of needing a button to work your doors from inside.

Did you mount a power switch inside the car?

No I did not, like I said, the actuators detect the movement of the stock lock button and automatically unlock or lock the other side to. Which elminates the need for such a button.

These actuators have 5 wires, and others have 2, so I assume the 5 wire thing is the detecting the locks thing.

Autoloc actually sent me a 4 door kit when I ordered a 2 door kit. So I payed less and got 2 free actuators and a shit load of extra wire and stuff. Good deal. So if I ever find something I can use those actuators for that would be great.

Here's some ideas...

Gas-tank door actuator (don't know why this would be usefull, but maybe if you wanted to fill your tank and didn't want to open your door)?

Hatch latch actuator so you can pop your hatch from outside?

I can't imagine any way to fit an actuator inside the gas tank. As for the trunk you need a different kind of actuator. It sort of pulls and has a cabel attached to it. It's much stronger than these lock ones.
