Anyone drive the 3.5liter Magnum

Just wondering if the Hemi is a must. The 3.5 has 250hp which sounds pretty strong.

Here's a review, enjoy..

I know some that has one with the 3.5 and he probally likes it so far.His does not have AWD.Stay away from one with a 2.7.I cannot believe Daimler Chrysler put a 2.7lL engine in the magnum. The 2.7L engine is a pile of Junk and has no power at all

I have to disagree.

The 2.7 is just right for the daily driver. My Magnum, with the 2.7, seems to be status quo in the power and performance department versus any other comparable family sedan. You must remember, this car is focused for three types of people, comuters, comuters for performance, and muscle car buffs. The range of engines fits the car into all of these.

Re: Anyone drive the 3.5liter Magnum

no it won't, I work at a Chrysler dealer and the only magnum that has come in was an SXT b/c the intake gasket had slipped on it, common problem on the 3.5 V6. The 2.7 has had some issues, which I have yet to see in FL, it's a great starter off engine, get's great economy and has the oomph to go when it needs to go.

So what's all the hype you hear about the 2.7 having problems? I've heard bad things, but you seem to be working on them....

Re: Anyone drive the 3.5liter Magnum

I beat a chick in a supra today in my awd
a point to consider, the rwd has only 4 gears while the awd has 5, the awd also handles better, has a tighter turning radius and the 18" wheels look a lot better

Chrysler knew that the 2.7 had problems back in 1998-99. I had one of these units and they were abuse proof. THe engine / transmission had a restriction on it. No kick down while in gear. I remember flooring the gas to the floor but it it held in the current gear. The only way you could get the thing to pick up and go was double pump the gas.

I own an SXT w/3.5, I believe the car has plenty of power, I also didnt want to pay the extra 6k for the RT package. I also got the upgraded 18" wheels without buying the AWD, I have some pics of the car and my truck at:http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2102381
check it out and let me know what you think.

Re: Anyone drive the 3.5liter Magnum

2.7l is a great engine if you keep up the maintenance on it. i work at a dodge dealership in stlouis and the only thing that i really see that the 2.7 has a problem with is sludging up because people change the oil every 5-6k. the 3.5 is a great engine. my parents have a 3.5 magnum and the thing does really well for what it is.

Re: Anyone drive the 3.5liter Magnum

The 3.5 has been around for a long time and it kicks but for a 6. It runs real strong. Ive had several and always got upwards of 30+mpg hwy. But to compare it to the hemi is like oranges to apples. You wouldn't be dissapointed in the 3.5, but you would be very pleased with the hemi, depending on what you find more important in your car.

Re: Anyone drive the 3.5liter Magnum

I have an 05 3.5 and love it. Plenty of power. Have had some issues with engine light but nothing major. I bought it with 1500 miles now has 70000. Good luck.
