959 car bodies still produced?

I read Porsche still produces 959 car BODIES! Maybe not anymore but bodies were built in greater numbers than cars itself.
For what purposes? For replicar builders?

For spares is the only reason i can think of. Its a beast of a car, im sure there are off's here and there. Porsche wouldnt want to run out of spares for one of its all time greats. Makes sense, no?

cheers,
jay

I was mistaken. There is an article and mention about only 2 Porsches built in 1996

I also gather links concerning 959

bodies

Porsche never built the 959 body panels, the supplier Bauer did. And they are able to make new panels.
Gate's 959 legally reentered in Oct. 2001. The final bill was around $150,000. of which $32,000. was paid by taxpayers for damage while in storage in Oakland.
