Silverado weird sound

Not that familiar with this sound. But when you rev the engine, or you are taking off fast. The engine makes like a high pitch compression noise. Ive heard them in other vehicles but mine is louder. What do you think it is, or what to do about it?

Re: Silverado weird sound

2000 5.3L....its coming from somewhere close to the top of the engine near the firewall....the noise kinda sounds like a faster higher pressured version...of when you check your tire pressure and some leaks out

so you don't know what the exhaust manifold is ?
this is where the exhaust exits the engine,,it should look rusty,,with bolts that are rusted mounted on each side of the engine...get's hot quickly...

Re: Silverado weird sound

What about the PCV valve, back of engine, near the firewall, on top of the drivers side valve cover. Is it in the hole correctly? Just a thought.
