1970 Olds 442
Hi my dad has is almost done restoring his 70 442 convertible but he is having a few hickups getting the cooling fan to fit. He needs an aluminum spacer that goes on the fan shaft to shim it away from the water pump. He needs a 1" spacer. Does anyone know where to get these in Canada or online to order quickly? Thanks....

Do you have a fan clutch? Is it missing?
I think many of these cars had fans with large, non-flexing blades. These should be used with a fan clutch. If you mount them solidly to the waterpump they will blow WAY too much air. This will place a power drag on the engine, stress the waterpump and might lead to the fan flying to pieces if you rev the engine much. If the fan is mounted solidly, the blades have to be thin and flexible so they have variable pitch. A big blade, solid fan should have a fan clutch.
