1990 Cutlass Ciera : Oil on manifold

This is a 3.3 Auto.

I am not at all experience to excuse me.

There appears to be oil on the front exhaust manifold ( nearest to the oil filler cap )

I have only recently aquired the car, is it possible the previous owner overfilled? Or am I into serious problems here?

I am capable of simple to moderate servicing, but it this is an engine strip down it is likely beyond my skills and budget.

Thanks in advance.

Re: 1990 Cutlass Ciera : Oil on manifold

The 1990 3.1L was the first year bult without a distributor(elec Ing).
There is a plug with an O-ring in the hole where the distributor shaft used to go. Check there for the leak. There is one 1/2" bolt holding the plug in place. Very easy to see and replace. (Home repair cost $2.50 time 1 Hour)
