Lightbulb a/c problem that you can fix yourself (MUST READ)

I had an a/c problem with my 1999 Grand vitara. The a/c was working fine, the air was cold but the blower was making alot of noise and air was hardly blowing. Two a/c guys said they would have to pull down the dash to see where air was escaping. i thought yeah right so i decided to explore.

After about half hour i found the problem. The air filter over the blower was dirty and actually black with muck and goo. It was so dirty it was preventing the flow of air. I have now cleaned the filters with some soap water and degreaser. I installed them back and its 100% good

All this done for the good ole price of $0.00. So dont go spend alot of dough if you have this problem. Just unmount the glove box and take out and clean your self.

I was actually quoted a price of $ 200 to repair my problem as the guy said the blower was bad. Yeah right.

This forum really inspires you to solve problems on your own and save money.

That only works if you have a filter in the first place.

Thanks for the post zuki! I was told my GV had inside filters, but at a glance I couldn't find them. Did you have to take the glove box out to see the filters?

Remove glove box

The glove box needs to be removed to get to the filters. All you need is a phillips head screwdriver.

Anyone know where I can get a replacement filter online? I just got a call from the shop saying i need a new one but they can't get one. No dealers for 500 miles.
