Crankshaft Sensor Code/Engine Didn't Start
Today I went to start my 96 318i 1.9, It sort of "blinked" like the battery was dead. I tried again and the car started right up, but the check engine light was on.
The code ended up being a P0335, crankshaft position sensor. I'm wondering if this is a symptom of a larger problem or if maybe I just had a bad ground. Funny thing was, all of my programmed radion stations got erased, so it's almost like the battery was disconnected... Weird... |

Cps
Can't say as never had the issue on my Bimmer, but my daily driver is a slightly warmed over 1998 Neon and last month she just died on me and would not start. I had her towed home and she started right up, ran for five minutes and died. I had her coded and nothing, so we started her and let her run until she died and then she coded a CPS. I replaced it and no further issues. I would not let the CPS go as it may strand you somewhere you do not wish to be.

Re: Crankshaft Sensor Code/Engine Didn't Start
Whenever I went over a bump the car would hesitate. I had the same code and replaced the crankshaft sensor and it stilled did the same thing. Still continued with the hesitation. I was checking out my battery in the trunk and noticed a spark coming from the battery connetion. It seemed that the battery connection had a worn section that was hitting metal and shorting out. I taped it up and the problem was fixed. |
