85 olds no tranny

I just bought a 1985 olds toronado, the tranny does not work, it wont even try to go forward or reverse. I am sure the tranny is toast, is there something else that may be wrong. Also I am very mechanically inclined, can this be rebuild fairly easy. I have rebuilt a turbo 350 before. thanks

If it has oil, and the linkage is hooked up, then it is coming out. BTW, this is a tough unit to R and I as well as overhaul.

Re: 85 olds no tranny

I would assume the R and I would mean remove and install. My estimator shows 5.5 to 6.5 hours on the removal and 5.4 to 8.1 hours on the rebuild.

Yeah, I figured I was wrong you kinda had me stumped, after I thought it was rebuild for R the rest wasn't making since because I thought you meant I for being you and was trying to figure out the wording, I'm with the other guy I'm not good with abbreviations.
