rabbit and the golf

Are the rabbit and the golf any different or did they just change the name.

well as far as i know rabbit is us and golf is uk, different lamps on us model different bumpers, however same shell

The "Rabbit" is actually the Golf Mk I, named the "Rabbit" in the US because US customers couldn't relate to the "Golf Mk I" nomenclature used in the rest of the world.

All of my cars are old, thank goodness, and a Rabbit to me was the car VW was making 30 years ago. But dont the current crop of Rabbits have 5 cylinders, while the Golf has a 4 cylnder engine?
