2008 G5 Oil Filter location?
I see it has one of those filters without a canister, and I assumed it is in the oil pan like most of those type, but someone else said it's "under the plastic engine cover, inside a black canister". Anybody out there know for sure?

I just changed the oil in my G5 and the oil filter is located on the front right side of the motor. I purchased the oil filter socket from snapon. and removed the oil filter cap. It threads directly from out of the block and the oil filter cartridge stays snapped into the cap. super easy to change out and clean also. no muss no fuss.

Re: 2008 G5 Oil Filter location?
Thanks jeep mechanic. I will relay that info to the person who originally asked the question, and also file it away for future reference for the day I will inevitably run into it myself.
One more thing I was wondering, since you said you got the wrench from Snap-On. Is that some special sort of wrench, like a spanner or something? Or it sounds like the cap is shaped like a canister maybe? |

You can use a thin four wheel drive socket and I know a guy that does this instead of the special socket. It does not ruin the threads at all.
