Under Hood Insulator pad

Does anybody know where to buy a custom one or even an OEM one? I've searched and had no luck finding one? Thanks in advance.

Also was looking to put these on my 1G-A to replace the factory glass ones so I can have blue bulbs.

Re: Under Hood Insulator pad

Hood pad...wtf ?

You mean the fibery like thing on the bottom side of the hood ? Pointless to have..collects dirt and moisture and smells funny after a while ..lol
Although you may be able to snag one from a local junk yard.

Those heatshields aren't pointless. They protect the hood from the heat.

I don't have one on mine and i've been running it that way since day one. I think it would only be purposeful on a CF hood but then again the CF hoods aren't punched for the little plastic tab inserts though are they ?

Re: Under Hood Insulator pad

In your case its not that big of a deal, turbo cars have more heat under the hoods. I have never seen a warpped hood from not using a heat shrield but Im sure it can happen.

If anything, the paint might wear off prematurely. But then again, we are talking about DSMs, LOL. Our stock paint sucks.

I just painted repainted my car. I also have a CF that I put on in October thats allready started to chip thanks to Old Man Winter.. (Winter beater died on me)...I've been running without a heat shield since October.. and I haven't noticed any defects on the hood. but I think its only a matter of time.. ecspecially when the summer sun/heat combined with the engine bay temp.

Re: Under Hood Insulator pad

Whenever I get a carbon fiber hood, I'm going to completly cover the underside of it in the Dynamat brand under hood insulation.

Re: Under Hood Insulator pad

$47 dollars is a little bit steep but I guess that's kind of what I was expecting to pay for a new one. Thanks for the find. ned
