Explain this to me: Under the new BCS arrangement Notre Dame will be guaranteed one of the at-large slots in a BCS bowl if it is ranked No. 8 or better in the final BCS Standings. It is also guaranteed annual payment for its participation in the BCS. In those seasons in which the Irish play in a BCS game, the school will receive $4.5 million (an amount equivalent that received by a conference that places a second team in a BCS bowl). In those seasons in which Notre Dame does not play in a BCS game, it is projected to be paid $1.3 million for its participation in the BCS arrangement. Now that to me is a real argument for a playoff system, time to let the cream rise to the top and discard the sour milk. The BCS contenders that you may have over looked are on this weekend. BSU at Hawaii on ESPN, Friday. My loyalties here are mixed since I graduated from Boise High but was recruited by and played for Hawaii in college and now, again, live in Boise. |

I just think the old powerhouse conferences like Big 10, Big 12, ACC, Pac-10, and SEC should re-form and bring in the Sunbelts and Midwest conferences. I mean my God Baylor needs to be booted out of the Big 12. I'd personally love to see Tulsa get in. As for playoffs, why not. Give every conference a seat and have them duke it out. Keep the bowls and have them as the final four before a championship. The only problem is time and preparation. Which is a pro and con.
